I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, the youngest of 5 kids. We vacationed all over the country, camping and spending lots of time in national parks. I liked to play, daydream, read, ride my bike, and paint.
When I grew up, I went to the University of Notre Dame, where I met my husband. After that I got a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Colorado and had fun doing science. We moved to Maryland for 2 years. Now I live in Fort Collins, Colorado.
I’ve spent the past several years hanging out with my 3 kids. They keep me busy! I’m also a Girl Scout troop leader and a volunteer. I like to read, bake, be outdoors, and spend time with family and friends.
My writing journey began in third grade with a story that my friend and I were going to publish for a million dollars. (Unfortunately that didn’t happen, but it was pretty funny to read later.) In high school I was the editor of the yearbook. Later, I mostly wrote school assignments and technical papers. But I always had “daydream stories” running through my head. Eventually I needed to put them on paper. I first started writing a novel several years ago. Now I write picture books. My family inspires many of my stories.
